Plein Air Workshop with June Shatken

The natural beauty of our island will be your inspiration for this painting and sketching workshop.  We will meet outdoors at a beautiful waterfront location. You will bring the medium of your choice, watercolor, colored pencils, pastels, or acrylics.

Schedule: Monday, July 20, 10:00am-4:00pm (break 12:30-1:30)

Course Fee: $125

Location: To be announced

NOTE: Some drawing or painting experience is recommended

What you’ll learn

We’ll work to answer questions such as: what makes a strong composition? How does the quality of the light effect the mood? How does one create the effects of depth and distance in painting?

Step by step, you will be guided to find a composition that inspires you; to make a few small sketches to simplify your composition; and to determine the values (lights/darks) in your composition.  These steps will familiarize you with your subject and enable you to complete a more successful landscape painting.
