What You'll Learn

By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with beautifully-layered mixed media artwork and a set of techniques you can continue to explore at home.

Part 01

Exploring & Composing

Day 1 begins with the playful process of creating one-of-a-kind gelli prints and richly layered collage papers. As your prints dry, you’ll explore acrylic techniques on watercolor paper, learning how to build luminous backgrounds using silicone spreaders and thoughtfully paired colors. You’ll then begin composing your collage—tearing, cutting, and arranging your handmade papers into a dynamic design, and securing them with a clear acrylic medium.

Part 02

Taking it further

Day 2 invites you to take your work further by layering transparent collage materials and introducing simple imagery. You’ll be guided through sketching a delicate floral motif, first practicing with charcoal before translating your drawing into paint on your collage surface. This step adds depth, contrast, and a personal narrative to your piece.
