The Drawing Room: How to Draw a Face

Drawing faces is one of the most powerful ways to grow as an artist, bringing together observation, structure, and expression all at once.

Free your creative practice by learning the “rules” and then breaking them, just like Picasso!

Schedule: Friday, July 10, 10:00am - 1:00pm

Course Fee: $50, see materials list below

Location: 23 N. Ferry Road

Age: 16+

What You'll Learn

In this class, you’ll learn to move beyond symbols and truly see—capturing proportion, light, and subtle shifts that bring a face to life. Along the way, you’ll discover how small changes can transform mood and personality, making the process both a rewarding challenge and a deeply creative, expressive experience.

Part 01

Building blocks

We’ll begin with warm-up exercises to loosen up your hand and eye, then break down the individual facial features and learn how to draw them with accuracy. You’ll have time to practice and build confidence through guided exercises.

Part 02

Bringing it together

We’ll start putting the features together, focusing on proportion and how everything fits within the structure of the head. Through practice, you’ll begin developing a cohesive and believable face.

Part 03

Practice and share

You’ll refine and complete your portrait drawing, bringing together everything you’ve learned. We’ll finish with a supportive share and discussion to reflect on your work and progress.
